Yes, Hora Eclipse 2 is a dance camp, but it's so much more! In addition to workshops and parties where you'll dance your favorite Israeli (and/or international) dances with your friends from across the US and beyond, Hora Eclipse 2 brings you one of the most magical opportunities you can ever experience—witnessing a total eclipse of the sun! As anyone who attended the first Hora Eclipse knows, witnessing a total solar eclipse is an experience like nothing else. Everything around you is affected—the sky, the birds, the flowers, the animals. . . even YOU will feel it!  Join us in Texas, April 5-8, 2024 for Hora Eclipse 2—a truly astronomical experience you won't want to miss!   Join our mailing list

  • Who are the partners of Hora Eclipse 2?
Hora Eclipse 2 will be held in conjunction with
           -  The annual spring conference of the National Folk Organization (NFO), and
           -  Kochavim, a longstanding Texas Israeli dance camp.
We'll be having many joint events with the NFO including international dancing, music, singing, and more. And if there's something you'd particularly like to see at the camp, we're eager to hear suggestions.

  • What about the non-dancers in my family?
They can come too—everyone is welcome! There will be events suitable for beginning dancers and for those who don't dance at all. There will also be events related to the eclipse. On Monday we all watch the eclipse together.

  • How much does it cost? What kind of accommodations/food are there? What about travel?
Patience, patience! Details are coming. Join our mailing list to be the first to know!

  • What about October 14 2023?
Ah, yes, an annular solar eclipse, also visible in Texas. Nothing currently planned dance-wise, but if you're interested in a potential group trip to Albuquerque, let us know.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Why Texas?
Although the path of this eclipse includes other locations, like Cleveland and Pittsburgh, you can see the eclipse only when the weather permits; clouds are deadly! Our Texas location combines the longest eclipse duration with the best weather prospects in the USA.

  • Who are the teachers / programmers?
Expect to see outstanding dance choreographers and teachers on the staff of Hora Eclipse 2. More details soon!

  • Tell me about the eclipse!
A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between us and the sun; we'll see a solid black circle in the sky as the world darkens. There is nothing like the experience of a solar eclipse. Hora Eclipse 2 will provide everything you need to understand and enjoy this celestial event safely. (The slides from the instructional presentations at the first Hora Eclipse can be found here and here.)

  • But isn't 2024 a long way off?
It is, but dedicated eclipse-chasers make their plans well in advance, so we wanted everyone to know of this great opportunity to witness a total solar eclipse AND dance!
